Meet Our Queen

Al Amira Temple, Daughters of the Nile is an active Temple focused on bettering our
members, the world, and the lives of the patients at the Shriners Hospital for Children –
Canada®.
Our events and activities cover these tenets.
We attend parades in local communities to further or public image within the community.
We recently were gifted a float by a local Shrine Unit which allows those of us who
cannot walk in a parade, still take part in the group activity.
Our website is current and informative. I you are reading this you have found our
website. Be sure to sign into our secure section which is for members only. It’s full of
useful information. We also have 3 Facebook pages, one for the public, one for only us,
and one for our online auctions.
Fundraising is an important part of our organization. Some of the events we held this
year were a wine tasting and cheese pairing, a Supreme Session after-party, a funny
money casino night, and a 3-day garage sale. This fundraising not only assists us in
donations to the hospital but serves as a social event for all involved.
This summer Constable Amanda, from Edmonton Police Services, spoke on how we
can protect ourselves against internet and telephone fraud. We are never too old to
learn something new.
As Queen as Al Amira I am honoured, humbled, and amazed by each of our members.
You all have varied life commitments. You all come from different backgrounds and
face different hurdles. Yet you find the time to give of yourself for our wonderful
organization and to serve others.
Wishing you a Happy New Year, bursting with fulfilling and exciting opportunities. And remember, if opportunity doesn't knock, build a door!
